1946 Daisy Buck Rogers U-238 Atomic Pistol Holster Set With Original Box
Unbelievable toy, complete, and all original, Buck Rogers U-238 Atomic Pistol and Holster Set produced by Daisy with its awesome original box!! It was the last of several very successful pressed steel Buck Rogers pistols produced by Daisy. It was also the last pistol sold as a set with holster. Provenance from the Wayne Jagielski collection. Beginning in 1934 with the XZ-31 the Daisy company produced three versions of the Atomic Pistol (including the colorful XZ-44 Liquid Helium Pistol) under six different model names. The U-238 style was also produced with copper finish in 1935 as the XZ-38 Disintegrator, and again in 1945 with silver or black finish as the U-235 Atomic Pistol. The gold finish U-238 was available as a store item, sold only as a set, in 1946. Over the same time period Daisy produced four different Buck Rogers leather holsters. Again, the style holster in this auction was only available with the gold Atomic Pistol as a set. In other words that all means that the pistol and holster are correct for this set. The awesome red and white illustrated box showing Buck and Wilma blasting away at the Robot Army was also used earlier by Daisy in 1935 (store item) and again in 1939 (as a Popsicle premium). However, although the illustration and coloring are identical, in the earlier instances it was called the 25th Century Disintegrator Combat Set". This set has the correct pistol with the correct holster and the correct box! It's only the complete set with original box I've seen. In fact, it's the only late model U-238 holster box I've seen!
